The Brief

One classic track. Rebuilt from the ground up.

Most production courses hand you a blank project and a lot of theory. NEXUS does the opposite. Everyone works the same brief — a remix of one classic track — from first idea to finished master, with a working producer in the room the whole way. The track is the starting point, not the destination: you take it wherever your own sound goes.

Deconstruct

Pull the original apart before you touch a fader. Why it works, what the arrangement is really doing, where the energy actually comes from — and which parts are worth keeping.

Workshop

Build in the same room, at the same time. Your work goes up on the monitors, gets listened to properly, and gets honest feedback — from Liam and from the other producers in the group.

Theory, applied

Sound design, arrangement, harmony, mix balance — taught against the track in front of you rather than in the abstract. Theory sticks when you use it the same afternoon.

Finish it

The hardest part of production is not starting — it's finishing. You leave with a completed remix, not a folder of eight-bar loops.

In your genre, not ours

One source track, eighteen directions. Take it progressive, tech, techno, house, hard dance, uplifting — or somewhere none of us saw coming. Liam works across the room session by session, so the guidance you get is aimed at the record you're making: the right sound palette, the right arrangement, the right references for your style. You don't need to make the music he makes to get something out of the week.

Why a remix? A blank canvas is where most producers stall. Starting from a track that already works removes the paralysis and puts the focus squarely on craft — arrangement, sound selection, and the decisions that actually separate a finished record from an unfinished one. Everyone tackling the same source material is what makes the workshops sharp: you hear eighteen different answers to a problem you've personally wrestled with — and because everyone takes it into their own genre, those answers sound nothing alike. Hearing how a techno producer and a prog producer solve the same drop is worth more than any lecture on arrangement.

The Week

How the five nights actually run

Four days of instruction with Liam, then a final day to enjoy the island. The work gets finished first — the last day is yours to spend on the coast rather than in the studio.

Arrive, settle into the villa and meet the group. Then the reveal: the track you'll all be remixing, played on the studio monitors, and an opening session on what the week is going to ask of you.

Dinner together at the villa: the first proper chance to get to know the people you'll be sharing a studio with.

Deconstruction & direction
☀ Day
A full guided session pulling the original apart, then choosing your own angle. By the end of the day everyone has a direction, a tempo, and the bones of an idea in the DAW.

☾ Night · Pizza & live stream
The villa's professional pizza oven fires up and our chef keeps the wood-fired pizzas coming, while the streaming studio goes live on Twitch with sets from the group. It's all recorded, so you leave with footage of your own.

Build day & first playback
☀ Day
Start with an optional hike up the mountain behind the villa: about 30 minutes up, with views across the bay. Then heads-down production with Liam moving between setups, plus a theory block on sound design and arrangement. Late afternoon playback: every work-in-progress on the big speakers, with feedback from the room.

This is also the day for professional press shots with our photographer (an optional extra).

A group dinner in Port de Pollença at Celler La Parra, a family-run restaurant in an old wine cellar, serving Mallorcan food since 1962.

Finishing & the listening session
☀ Day
The last day of tuition. Mix balance, final arrangement calls, and getting tracks over the line with Liam. The programme closes with a proper listening session of all eighteen remixes on the studio monitors.

The pizza oven fires up again and the stream goes back on air: this time the remixes get their first airing to the world.

Departure

Breakfast, goodbyes, and onward travel. You go home with a finished remix, a set of notes, your session recordings, eighteen new people who make the same music you do, and a place on the NEXUS A&R platform, where label owners from our network hear your finished tracks.

Liam Wilson

Liam Wilson is one of trance music’s most respected DJs and producers — a Manchester original who built his name through residencies at Goodgreef, Rong and Pure Trance before taking his old-school, crowd-first DJing worldwide, from Ibiza to Argentina to Australia.

Self-taught as a producer, he’s since released on Armada, Black Hole, Subculture and FSOE, landed multiple Beatport Top 10s, and had tracks like ‘Family’ and ‘Aspiration’ become genuine scene highlights. Seven-plus years deep in the trance circuit, with radio support from BBC Radio 1 and A State Of Trance.

Self-taught means he remembers what it's like not to know. NEXUS is direct access to how a working producer actually builds, decides and finishes — not a lecture series.

Whatever you make, bring it. Liam's own records sit in trance, but sound design, arrangement, groove, mix balance and knowing when a track is done are the same craft in every genre. He works session by session with each producer in the style they actually want to release in — progressive, techno, house, hard dance or otherwise. All styles are welcome in the room.

The retreat

Who is NEXUS for?

Producers who can already find their way around a DAW and want to get properly good. It's not for complete beginners. If you've made loops but never finished a record, it's aimed squarely at you.

I don't make trance. Is it still for me?

Yes. Liam's own records are trance, but sound design, arrangement, groove, mix balance and knowing when a track is done are the same craft in every genre. He works with each producer in the style they actually want to release: progressive, techno, house, hard dance or anything else.

What is the remix project?

Everyone works on the same classic track and remixes it in their own direction across the week, with Liam guiding you session by session. The week closes with a listening session of every remix on the studio monitors.

How many people will be there?

Eighteen producers, and that's the cap. This is the first NEXUS, so it's one edition and one small room.

Which DAW do I need?

The studio runs Ableton Live and Logic Pro. If you use something else (FL Studio, Cubase, Bitwig and so on), tell us when you sign up and we'll talk it through with you.

What happens outside the studio?

Days are for production, nights are for the group. Over the week: a welcome dinner at the villa, pizza nights with our chef and the villa's professional pizza oven while the streaming studio goes live on Twitch, a group dinner at Celler La Parra in Port de Pollença (an old wine cellar serving Mallorcan food since 1962), and a last night at the Garden Club, where everyone plays back-to-back sets.

By day there's also an optional hike up the mountain behind the villa (about 30 minutes up, with views across the bay), the beaches ten minutes' walk down the hill, and the villa's gym and hot tub.

Will my sessions be recorded or streamed?

Yes. The villa has its own streaming studio. Sessions are recorded, and some go out live on Twitch, so you leave with footage you can post.

You can also book professional press shots with our photographer during the week (an optional extra).

What happens after the retreat?

You leave with your finished remix and your session recordings, and you get a place on the NEXUS A&R platform: a private platform where label owners from our network listen to NEXUS producers' finished tracks, with an eye to signing them.

How much is it, and what's included?

£1,999 per person for five nights at Island Vibes Studios, all meals, four days of guided instruction with Liam Wilson, studio access (Ableton Live, Logic Pro, pro monitoring), group workshops, the playback and listening sessions, your session recordings, the social nights (pizza & live-stream nights, dinner at Celler La Parra, the Garden Club) and a place on the NEXUS A&R platform. Pickup from Alcúdia is available on request.

How do I pay?

A £250 deposit secures your place. The balance is then four monthly payments of £437.25 on the 15th of November, December, January and February, taken automatically from your card. You can pay it off sooner, or in full, whenever you like.

Can I come with a friend?

Yes. Prices are per person, for a bed. Book as a pair and you take a twin room together. Book solo and you'll share a twin with another producer. Every room has its own bathroom.

When does booking open?

Sign up for early access on this page and you'll be able to book before places go on public sale. Signing up is free and doesn't commit you to anything.

Getting there

Where is NEXUS?

At Island Vibes Studios in Cala Sant Vicenç, a small cove village on Mallorca's north coast, near Pollença. The address is Carrer de Mestre Paco 15, 07469 Cala de Sant Vicenç.

The village's beaches are about ten minutes' walk down the hill. Pollença old town and Port de Pollença are around ten minutes away by taxi (about €15), or fifteen by local bus.

Which airport do I fly to?

Palma de Mallorca (PMI), which has direct flights from most UK and European airports. Allow about 40 minutes to get off the plane and collect your bags.

How do I get from the airport to the villa?

It's roughly an hour by road from Palma airport.

Hire car (our recommendation): the easiest option, and handy for your free day.

Taxi: about 50 minutes and around €90, which is easy to split with other guests on similar flights. Ask us and we'll put you in touch.

Bus: public buses run from Palma to the north of the island (around €12). Take one to Alcúdia and we can pick you up on request, or take a short taxi from there (around €20).

What time should I arrive and leave?

Check-in is from 3pm on Wednesday 17 March. The track reveal, dinner and the opening session are that evening, so aim to arrive by early evening.

You leave on Monday 22 March after breakfast, with check-out by 11am, so flights from early afternoon onwards work well.

Do I need a car during the week?

No. Everything happens at the villa and all meals are included. The village is walkable, and taxis and local buses go to Pollença and the port.

What's the accommodation like?

A private villa with a professional Pioneer DJ studio built into it: eight bedrooms and eighteen beds, twin rooms with their own bathrooms, a gym, a hot tub and outdoor terraces.

What about food and dietary needs?

All meals are included throughout the retreat. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs can be catered for: just tell us when you book.

What's the weather like in March?

Mild spring days, a quiet coast and no crowds. Days are usually in the mid to high teens (°C), and evenings are cooler, so bring a jumper or a light jacket.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, we strongly recommend it. Travel insurance isn't included, so make sure yours covers your trip, your flights and the kit you bring.
